Breast lump removal (lumpectomy) is the surgical removal of a breast lump for diagnosis or treatment. Most breast lumps are benign (fibroadenomas, cysts), but biopsy is needed to confirm. Modern day-care lumpectomy leaves minimal scarring.

Clinical breast examination, mammography (over 40), ultrasound, and FNAC or core biopsy of the lump. MRI for high-risk patients.
Lumpectomy under local or general anesthesia. Cosmetic incisions used to minimize scarring. Sentinel lymph node biopsy if cancer is confirmed. Daycare procedure, recovery in 7–10 days.
