Hydrocele is a fluid-filled sac surrounding a testicle that causes scrotal swelling. While painless, large hydroceles can become uncomfortable. Surgical hydrocelectomy provides a permanent cure as a daycare procedure.
Painless swelling of one or both sides of the scrotum · Heavy or dragging sensation · Increased size during the day, smaller in the morning · Discomfort while walking or sitting
Clinical examination shows transillumination — light passes through the swelling. Scrotal ultrasound confirms the diagnosis and rules out other pathology.
Hydrocelectomy through a small scrotal incision. 30–45 minute daycare procedure under spinal or general anesthesia. Recovery in 5–7 days, no sutures to remove.
