Lipoma is a soft, slow-growing fatty lump just under the skin. While benign, lipomas may need removal for cosmetic reasons, discomfort, or rapid growth. Outpatient excision leaves a small scar that fades over time.
A soft, movable lump under the skin · Slow growth over months or years · Painless in most cases · Cosmetic concern · Discomfort if pressing on a nerve
Clinical examination is usually enough. Ultrasound or MRI is done for deeper or larger lipomas. Histopathology after excision confirms the diagnosis.
Lipoma Excision under local anesthesia in 30–60 minutes (general anesthesia for large/deep). Daycare procedure, sutures removed in 7 days, scar fades over 6–12 months.
