A molar pregnancy is an abnormal pregnancy where the placenta develops into a mass of cysts instead of a fetus. While not viable, it must be treated promptly to prevent complications like persistent gestational trophoblastic disease.
Vaginal bleeding (often dark brown) · Severe nausea and vomiting (much worse than normal pregnancy) · Rapid uterine enlargement · Passage of grape-like cysts · No fetal heartbeat detected
Confirmed by very high beta-hCG levels and a characteristic "snowstorm" appearance on ultrasound. Tissue analysis confirms the diagnosis.
Suction Dilatation & Evacuation (D&E) is the standard treatment — the molar tissue is gently removed under anesthesia in 30 minutes. Follow-up beta-hCG monitoring for 6–12 months.
Doctor consult, hospital admission, insurance paperwork, surgery, post-op follow-up — your care manager handles everything.
