An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms on or inside an ovary. Most are harmless and resolve on their own, but persistent, large, or symptomatic cysts may need laparoscopic removal to preserve fertility and prevent complications.
Lower abdominal or pelvic pain · Bloating or fullness · Pain during periods or intercourse · Frequent urination · Irregular periods · Sudden severe pain (if cyst ruptures or twists)
Pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound to measure cyst size and characteristics. Tumor markers (CA-125) and MRI may be done if malignancy is suspected.
Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy — keyhole removal of the cyst while preserving the ovary. 60–90 minute procedure, 1–2 day hospital stay, recovery in 7–10 days. Fertility is preserved.
Keyhole removal preserving the ovary where possible.
