URSL (Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy) is the standard treatment for ureteric stones — stones lodged in the ureter, the tube connecting kidney to bladder. A semi-rigid scope and laser remove stones with no external cuts.
Severe one-sided flank pain radiating to groin · Burning urination · Blood in urine · Failed conservative management for ureter stone · Stone obstructing the ureter
Non-contrast CT KUB confirms the stone location, size and any obstruction. Urine culture rules out infection.
A semi-rigid ureteroscope is passed through the urethra into the ureter. Stone is fragmented with holmium laser and extracted. 45–60 minute procedure, daycare or 1-day stay.
